Nepal Army organized a special function at the Army Pavilion which was
attended by President Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister
Madhav Kumar Nepal, Vice-President Parmananda Jha,
Constituent Assembly chairman Subash Nemwang,
Chief Justice Anup Raj Sharma and Chief of Army Staff (CoAS)
Chhatra Man Singh Gurung.
Similarly, chiefs of the constitutional bodies, leaders of various political parties,
high ranking officials, security chiefs, heads of Kathmandu-based diplomatic
missions also attended the nearly three-hour long programme.
In line with the army tradition, CoAS Gurung presented insignias to NA battalions
and also presented awards to winners of the various competitions organized
to mark the establishment of Nepal Army.
Like every year, a huge crowd of people had gathered outside the Tudhikhel
grounds to watch the proceedings that included army march past, helicopter
flyby, free fall jump, band display and guest competitions.
The Army Day is observed every year on the day of Mahashivaratri.
President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal
and defense minister Bidhya Devi Bhandari had earlier issued separate
messages congratulating the army on the Army Day.
