Nepal is not just a small country, it is a small world in itself. Though it has very less territory, it is very rich in its cultural heritage. We recently visited the Changu Narayan temple at Bhaktapur.
It was built by Lichchavi King Mandev long ago. It stands as genuine proof of our ancient architecture. Lord Bishnu is worshiped here in Changu Narayan.
It was a part of our educa- tional trip. We got on the bust brimmig with curiosity and expectations. We had already been partially introduced to this temple through our text book. We all were sad to see that the road leading to the temple was not well man- aged. We got in lots of jam and it was very polluted.
In spite of all our tiredness we felt happy as soon as we saw the temple. We all were surprised by the temple as it was built high on a hill. We started to think of the labour as it might have been so hard for them to carry the things up such a high hill using tradi- tional methods.
The wall of temple was dec- orated with different kinds of art. By the look of it the arti- sans were experts in carving the pictures of god and god- dess on wood and stone.
Around the main temple there are other small temples with the statues of different gods. We could not visit the museum there due to scarcity of time.
We had our lunch at a nearby picnic spot. We en- joyed a lot.
From our trip we learnt that our ancient temples are our real wealth that need to be preserved.
